Credit River Cares created a new High School Scholarship Program and was able to award two $1,000 scholarships to Lakeville students in April 2008. Although this is the first year Credit River Cares (CRC) has awarded these scholarships, it will now become an annual event. Credit River Cares awarded one scholarship to Lakeville North High School and one scholarship to Lakeville South High School.

The students were judged on several criteria including community service work, involvement in extra-curricular activities and achievements in education. Credit River Cares hopes to financially assist these students with their post-secondary education goals so they can concentrate more fully on continuing to make a positive effect on their community. Since they have already shown the promise that they can make a difference, CRC hopes that this scholarship will inspire them to continue down that path. 

Credit River Cares awarded the first Lakeville North/Credit River Cares scholarship to Alyssa Countryman of Lakeville North High School. Alyssa is currently attending Northwestern College in Roseville with plans of going into teaching and education. She also may pursue a master’s degree in teaching and/or school administration. The first Lakeville South/Credit River Cares scholarship was awarded to Hanna Mundy. Hanna is attending the University of Arizona for pre-nursing. Credit River Cares will continue its scholarship program spring 2009 with the search for one student from each high school who exhibits the kind of motivation, drive and past success that can contribute to creating a future leader in the community. In the end, CRC supports its students and wants to award young leaders who are already making positive differences in their community.
